Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor - America Awakens

At Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Imperial Japan awakened America. At that moment, the great republic began its inexorable march toward to genuine exceptionalism. Consequently, America Ascendant, the Rise of American Exceptionalism, documents the events of that fateful morning on Oahu that shaped the rest of American and world history for eighty years to come. Moreover, Japan also attacked America by striking Midway, Wake Island and Guam. Furthermore, Japan attacked and soon invaded the Commonwealth of the Philippines, then American soil. Many thousands of American and Filipino heroes gallantly made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom as brothers in common cause. The names of Bataan and Corregidor echo forever in our collective memory, as does the infamous Bataan Death March.

Moreover, the “date that will live in infamy,” triggered a profound and permanent cultural change in the United States after President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a Declaration of War the next day. The attack, its aftermath and consequences are richly detailed in America Ascendant. Likewise, the decisions of many Americans to defend their nation. For example, David Sarnoff, president of RCA and chairman of NBC. Immediately upon learning of the attack, Sarnoff unconditionally pledged the resources of his corporations to the government. Consequently, he would serve on Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower’s staff at SHAEF, directing allied media and communications efforts on D-Day, June 6, 1944. However, today’s revisionists appear to have no concept of such genuine patriotism, integrity, and commitment. Moreover, the sacrifice of the sixteen million Americans who put on the uniform of their nation to defeat fascism baffles cancel-culture advocates.

AMERICA ASCENDANT

In conclusion, you can learn more about awakened America and the events surrounding Pearl Harbor in America Ascendant, available everywhere from the Potomac Books imprint of the University of Nebraska Press. Moreover, Army Military Review recommends the book as: “highly readable and may be the most comprehensive examination of America’s public diplomacy efforts during World War II to date. The strength of America Ascendant is Spragg’s exceptional prose and style. It is simply hard to put down. His exhaustive research of both primary and secondary sources provides a comprehensive look of the Axis defeat from many perspectives.”
